On Thursday, Sept 21st 2006, we found out that we were expecting! Our journey has been a long one to get to this point. As some of you know, we started "trying" in January 2004 and thought we would conceive straight away, how naive of us. Well, after a year of no success and a lot of pain and heartache, I went to my GP and was diagnosed with PCOS. We knew we could be in for a long journey of infertility.
After a year and a half of no success, we decided to move onto a fertility specialist in Sept 2005. After many months of Krista not being able to ovulate, Dr. Jacobs finally made it happen in June 2006. We had an IUI(intrauterine insemination) on June 16. 2 weeks later - negative. We were gutted, but we tried again.
I didn't ovulate again until September after a combination of Clomid and Follistim which were injectables. I had 2 follicles ready to go on Sept 8 - 21.5mm and 24mm. Which were fantastic!! We had another IUI scheduled for 9/10. A little less than 2 weeks later on 9/21 a home pregnancy test(well several) confirmed it for us.
We were finally pregnant! A beta blood test on 9/26 was 261 and my progesterone level was 25.6 - we were most definitely pregnant! 2 days later I had another beta that was 524 with a prog level at 27.6.
